BIOSEL

A bit of history

Located in Sidi Smaïl, in Béja, Tunisia, the BIOSEL salt spring finds itself in the middle of a region that is rich in mineral water springs.

BIOSEL spring salt accumulated during the various geological periods; it was stored since the dawn of time in natural conditions, protected from pollutants and biologically hoarded, thus allowing us to benefit from it now.

Some 200 million years ago, the sea that covered this region withdrew and left a shallow sea-brine lagoon, which, by evaporation, formed a substantial layer of evaporite (containing halite salt / rock salt). In time, this salt layer was covered with several sediment layers (more than 100m of marl and limestone, a natural barrier against all external aggressions).

In places, the evaporite layer rose to the surface, following the shape of the sedimentary folds and erosion. Water penetrated into the soil at different places (coming from the water table supplying Ain Melliti, a world-renowned mineral water source, and from the precipitations in the surrounding hills). This journey through soil and rocks gave it a natural minerality, without any trace of nitrate and heavy metals. The water circulates in the salt deposit and then resurfaces, flowing according to gravity. Once collected, the water evaporates at mild temperatures, thus retaining all its qualities and those of its components.

Differences between spring salt and white table salt

The natural spring salt BIOSEL is composed of 80% sodium chloride and 20% trace elements and other minerals. For its part, table salt is almost entirely composed of sodium chloride - 97.5% -, to which are added 2.5% of chemical products, such as moisture absorbents and anti-caking agents, without trace elements. In a so-called “washing” and “drying” process, conventional salt is heated at more than 650°C. The excessive heat destroys its natural chemical structure and eliminates all other beneficial components (potassium, calcium, iodine, magnesium). Moreover, in order to facilitate its conservation, aluminum-derived components are added to the white salt. Now, according to recent studies, aluminum is liable to increase the risks of decalcification and anemia, as well as the development of certain neuro-degenerative diseases, more in particular Alzheimer.

The human body needs sodium, and more in particular the tandem sodium/potassium.

The potassium and the other components of the natural spring salt limit the negative effects. This natural spring salt, retaining all its original components, is called BIOSEL. It’s the salt for the whole family, the salt to favor.

Benefits of BIOSEL spring salt

Low sodium content : BIOSEL spring salt is indispensable in all low-sodium diets. Since it does not favor water retention, it completes the assortment of measures against the scourge of obesity; it is thus indicated for slimming diets. BIOSEL also enters into the range of means of treatment and prevention of high blood pressure.

Presence of sulfate ion (so42-) : the presence of sulfate ion (so42-) gives BIOSEL its quality of digestive regulator.

High content of trace elements : the multitude of trace elements contained in BIOSEL makes it a salt of unique taste (presence of KCl), appreciated by all palates and a must in the preparation of cooked dishes, raw vegetables and all red and white meat.

Presence of mineral salts : the numerous other mineral salts contained in BIOSEL in various concentrations proved their effectiveness in preserving the good functioning of the renal system and in treating skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis, teenage acne, furunculosis and itching caused by the sweat glands.

Used as bath salt, BIOSEL proves to be a source of well-being and relaxation.

Biosel

• possesses higher salting power than conventional salt; the consumer thus uses less in preparations.

• enhances the flavor of dishes and seasons recipes.

• allows not to refrain from the pleasures of eating.

• possesses higher salting power than table salt, allowing a reduction of quantities by almost half.

Our Philosophy

Opting for foods in harmony with our body.

"Treating life with life" – We firmly believe that eating healthy products, mainly raw, without any chemical preservative agents, made from naturally derived ingredients, contributes to maintaining one’s health capital and vitality, and in certain cases even to reversing cell decline …
